Mark 10:17-31
Galatians 6:6
Why is the love of money so dangerous?
Money provides a feeding ground for many sinful attitudes and heart postures.
Money moves us away from contentment, not toward contentment.
Money makes us comfortable in this world, which is not our home.
Money can perpetuate the lie that we are self-reliant and independent.
We should examine the relationship between what we spend and what we treasure.
We should invest our treasure in things that last eternally.
We must fix our eyes on our True and Better Rich Young Ruler.
2 Corinthians 8:9
Discussion questions:
While we live in the most affluent culture in human history, few (none) of us are likely to think of ourselves as “rich.” Why? What might help us consider these words of Jesus with more self-reflection and honesty?
The message discussed several reasons why the love of money is so dangerous. Of these, which has been/is most dangerous to you personally? Why?

Practically speaking, how can you “examine the relationship between what [you] spend and what [you] treasure”?
How does the truth of the gospel - specifically the ways Jesus impoverished himself for our sake (see 2 Cor 8:9) - help us avoid the money trap and, instead, treasure Christ above all things?
