  • What might you do to fix your eyes more firmly on Jesus?

Discussion questions:

  1. Given an opportunity to see Jesus for who he truly is, Peter, James, and John respond in fear. What can we do to cultivate a good, healthy fear of the Lord in our lives? What are the signs and symptoms that we don’t rightly fear the Lord?

  2. The voice from heaven validates the divine identity of Jesus: “This is my beloved Son; listen to him” (9:7). In what areas of your life do you need to listen more carefully to the voice of the Son? What habits can you cultivate to listen more carefully to Him?

  3. The disciples remain confused about how Christ’s kingdom will come - hence their questions about Elijah. Jesus’ response urges them to see the pattern of his kingdom: suffering now, glory later. In a world still marked by pain and sorrow, how can we ix our eyes irmly on the glory still to be revealed when we see Christ as he was seen in the Transiguration? In what area of your life do you most need to keep your eyes ixed on Jesus now?
