Discussion questions:

  1. Until now, Jesus has (mostly) avoided calling attention to himself. He has told people to keep quiet about his miracles and his messianic identity. Why do you think he now shifts and makes such a dramatic entrance into Jerusalem?

  2. What does Jesus do in this passage that reveals the crowd’s expectation of his mission is confused? How can we, too, suffer from confused expectations when it comes to Jesus?

  3. The message offered three practical words of application:

    a)  Abandon all half measures. If Jesus is the true, humble, Divine King, then he can’t merely be part of your life. He must be everything, or he is nothing.

    b)  Consider the word that matters most to you. If Jesus is the Divine King, then his Word must be your inal authority on all things.

    c)  Examine your life to discern what you have failed to surrender to the lordship of Jesus. Find and surrender to Jesus anything over which you still claim to be king.

Take these three application points one at a time. How do they challenge you? How have you seen evidence of God’s grace to you in these areas? What do next steps of growth look like in these areas?
