  1. Why isn’t Passover a good time for the Jewish leaders to arrest Jesus? Why, under the providence of God, is Passover the ideal time for Jesus to be arrested, tried, and crucified?

  2. Messiah (a Hebrew word that is translated as Christos in Greek) means “anointed one.” Normally, a priest or prophet anointed a king, pouring oil upon his head. How does Jesus’ anointing in Bethany ironically contrast with those expectations?

  3. How do the actions of the woman (Mary) in 14:3-9 contrast with those of the religious leaders and Judas in 14:1-2, 10-11?
