Malachi: Week Four
Malachi 2:17-3:5
We will spend this Advent season studying the book of Malachi. Through Malachi, the Lord reproves and pursues his people - calling them to remember his covenant, seek him genuinely, and prepare for his coming. This week we look to Malachi 2:17-3:5.
Three questions:
Oh God, where is your justice?
Oh God, why do we need refining?
Oh God, will you answer our cries for justice?
‘What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you." Matthew 11:9-10
"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." Romans 12:19
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
Three implications of God's judgment:
Forgiveness is possible
Justice is Necessary
Peace is Attainable
